Maira Miceli was born in Dominican Republic but was raised in the wonderful city of New York where she received her state license. From an early age on, she was entranced by art, photography, sewing and the wonderful world of fashion. While attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, she began working in Retail, and found the Cosmetics department to be the most exciting. Working with Chanel for 13 years as a highly Trained Specialist, she did many special events, covered the color stories for each season and assisted with master classes, fashion shows and theater projects as well as commercial and magazine shoots. She was also a staff make-up artist at Lord and Taylor NYC, Henri Bendels, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.

 

 

Maira’s background as an artist has greatly influenced her make-up style. Her years of working in retail have cultivated an easy going way with people from all walks of life. After relocating to Miami, she worked in Television and Film for an array of channels including CNN, FOX and FOX Sports, CBS Telenoticias, HBO, Travel Channel, Telemundo Network, Discovery channel, E' Entertainment Latin America, and MUN 2. Maira has also worked extensively on freelance commercial projects in both New York City and Miami. Her work has appeared in People En Español, Vogue, Ocean Drive Magazine and more. She has traveled with many talents on location, has done catalogue work, magazine work, fashion, and independent film projects and was key make-up artist and designer for the Miami Film Festival 48 hour film and most recently the independent film company SOM Reel Films. She has also coordinated hair and make up for the Latin Billboard Music Awards. She continuously attends the make up trade shows to keep abreast of the changes, especially with the advent of HD and air brush technology. She participated in the HD summit in Miami , the NYC and Miami yearly make-up trade show and is very involved with the New York Powder Group’s ongoing make-up education courses.

 Her love and understanding of color have shaped the artist she has grown into, her true love of people, and the appreciation of the transformative power of make-up. She truly enjoys working with brides because she loves the idea of combining fashion and make-up, and weddings offer just that. Much of her bridal work has come from word of mouth referrals, because of her attention to detail and the passion she feels for her work and the joy of making her make-up application a fine art. Although Maira prefers to create fantasy and beauty, she has also trained in the area of special effects.
